“If you can go from zero to Nobel Prize in 11 days you can certainly go from zero to disastrous in 11 months.”
Someone on the Net.
Dude! Be a man and stop bowing!
This dude would be a perfect race relations czar for Urkel’s administration.
In all honesty, with statements like this, he would even make a good cabinet level minister:
“It was a very unfortunate event,” he said afterwards. “I didn’t mean for it to explode the way it did.”
‘Unfortunate’ seems to be a theme for this crowd. I wonder if’n I slugged my co-worker in bar if uttering ‘unfortunate’ would be a way to get me out of assault charges.
Despite the propaganda of the last decade, I have come to the realization that Vizzini was indeed correct when he said, “never get involved in a land war in Asia”. This holds true today as much as it was when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan and did the exact same thing we are repeating today with our occupying strategy that has no purpose or end. ‘Fighting them over there so we won’t have to fight them here” is a seemingly contrite verse that has been too often spouted by our overlords.
The resignation of Captain Hoh this week only serves to clarify my point, though like Vox Day, I have to ask why didn’t he come to this conclusion much earlier in his tenure?
Vox said very succinctly:
As the Romans knew, if you’re not going to settle colonists in a conquered territory, you’re not going to stay. And if you’re not going to stay, there is absolutely no reason to occupy territory once the initial objectives have been realized.
I could not agree more.
We here at the Halo Compound have always loved Frank J.
This piece however, gives a far better explanation to current events and the administrations recent actions. Though, I agree with one of the commentators that this gives little girls a bad name.
President Pantywaist and the Teleprompter Barbie, outside of course the venerable Urkel, are two of my favs.
I meant to post this a while back, but honestly, I forgot that I had a blog…
Let me be crystal clear with this statement:
My First Amendment rights trump your bureaucratic agenda. I will say what I want when I want about who I want no matter what they give or do not give me in return. You want to pick a fight with me over this, go ahead. I said the exact same thing with regard to McCain/Feingold a few years ago and that goes the same for you.
That’s my line in the sand.
No doubt you have heard the banter about how ‘Britain is America a decade from now’.
I agree for the most part, though I believe that train is accelerating. Today’s Drudge headlines server only to confirm that. In order to understand Blighty’s descent into a shadow of her former glory, you should read the following:
1) Government is a Business and like any business it is a case of expand or die.
2) An emergency allows legislation to be introduced which ratchets up, never down and any power once seized is NEVER given up.
3) Politicians lie.
4) The Police are a business (see 1 above).
5) Unless you take an interest in Politics and watch your “representatives” like hawks, they will arrange things to benefit themselves.
6) Unless you are cynical, the plausible schemes, soft and reasonable sounding words are not rebutted and there is always a further step which can be taken to wards Utopia. Once you realise the process has gone too far, it is too late.
Take time to read the entire piece. It is indeed enlightening.
Here is the article that covers it by Mish.
My first highlight:
Perhaps what we’re really seeing is a business reacting to hidden deterioration of asset bases that are not known by investors and the public due to the legitimation of bogus accounting that happened this last March, but which is known by company executives!
Coupled with this little nugget:
Note that the FASB voted to postpone mark-to-market until Nov. 15, 2009. That time is approaching, but have no fear. The FASB has postponed mark-to-market rules once again.
Finishing with this bit if truth:
The reason is obvious: It’s Still Not Practical To Tell The Truth.
I started Rabbit on airsoft last spring. We will graduate to BB gun after Christmas. I’ll give her a couple of years with that and then pickup a Cricket in blue, ’cause that’s her favorite color.
Excellent job dude. You done good.
I spent much of the weekend tending to children and a preggers wife, so I missed a lot of the finance news that rolled across my RSS reader until this morning.
I think a lot of Denninger, especially his constant uttering of “where are the criminal charges”, so when I ran across this I stopped in my tracks.
This time of year gets the hair on the back of neck in a permanently raised twitter after 2001. I dread the fall with everything fiber of my being and find myself waiting for the hammer to land squarely on the head of society once more.
Therefore, if you are dependent on such credit access I would take immediate action to do whatever is necessary to mitigate, to the extent you are able, the consequences of such a dislocation.
Consider how you survive returning to what essentially amounts to a cash economic posture in your business and personal life.
Those are tough words to hear if you are like me. The stored food and ammo look pale in comparison.
